CAIR-NY Seeks Applicants for Executive Director

 

(New York, NY) – The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has an opening for a full-time position of an Executive Director.

                

Job Title: CAIR-NY Executive Director

Position: Full-time salaried position

Salary: Competitive 

Job Description: This position will be the focal point for communications, activities, and programs emanating from CAIR–NY’s office.

Duties:

This shall include but not be limited to:

  • Fulfill Executive Director’s duties in accordance with CAIR’s mission and objectives as stipulated in CAIR-NY bylaws through consultation with President and implementation of the Board of Director’s (“Board”) decisions
  • Offer proposals to the President and the Board regarding special projects and events for the organization
  • Report to the President by issuing a monthly plan of action and a monthly report on the organization’s operations and achievements
  • Research for, prepare and write various grants to accomplish the organization’s not-for-  profit operations
  • Oversee the office operations of all departments, preparing annual budget and civil rights annual report
  • Organize and conduct fundraising events on behalf of the organization, such as the annual banquet
  •  Represent the organization in public and civil rights forums at various venues, including but not limited to organizing and participating in lectures and seminars as part of mosque outreach
  • Media watch and engagement with national and local media outlets on a regular basis
  • Meet with corporate and government officials to coordinate community efforts  
  • Keep close contact with other CAIR chapters and CAIR National        

 

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor Degree with three years minimum working experience in a related field with NGOs. A Masters Degree is preferable but not a requirement.   Good organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills; possession of superior communication (both verbal and written); a solid understanding of issues relating to Islam and Muslims; and an outgoing and proactive disposition is required. Legal Background is a plus.
